To Be Sewn Together
I don't have a prophetic word for the coming year as such, but have had these thoughts during the week about unity. Unity in Christ is not about sitting together in a conference or celebration. That has it's value, but the lord wants a commitment of love between the different parts of the Body of Christ. If you are a musician or intercessor, you are unlikely to have any problem with inter-church unity. The Church as a whole though has not yet caught the vision, with many leaders acknowledging the principle but not accepting the process. At present the churches are often like so many goldfish bowls; the fish are not allowed to jump between one bowl and the next. Leaders can be hampered by their insecurity in God, and fear change. Most ministries can be shared between church groups. There is a price to be paid, and the cost can be heavy on everyone when God requires a leader to move. The leaders may not want to lose cherished ministries either. Love may require Christians to move temporarily from their home church , or permanently. They may have to spend much time away from their home church thus putting an extra burden for others to carry. If there is to be unity there will be a cost in giving and sharing. Unity will be of benefit to all; there will be no lack. If we are willing to give money sacrificially, are we willing to do the same with people?
